This week we did a lot of writing, some was creative writing, but most was writing our essays. We spent most of our time writing and editing our group essays. My topic was humor, and i read the most interesting article i've ever read. It was called rape fantasies. The title says it all, a group of ladies share with eachother how they would want to be raped if it ever were to happen. In many ways was this ironic.
This week we learned a lot about how to interpret paintings, such as what sort of story that artist wanted to tell. The ted talk we watched was very eye opening and i didn't realize the potential that certain paintings can hold, the creativity is endless with paintings if you really think about them outside the box. We also dove into the poem Elegy in X Parts and read into that quite a bit.
This week I loved our group project and how we all interacted with each other. The art aspect of the project was also very enjoyable. We all learned how to apply our summer reading literature chapters to our personal reading. Our group project also connected to the quote on the wall "All of us are smarter than one of us" because we used this while producing our posters that explained the chapters in our summer reading, we did this by all working together and using all of our brains as a whole to come up with certain ideas. I also learned the importance of visual metaphors and how they are used and valued within writing and reading, using visualization while writing is a big way to draw a reader in. I also learned, from reading the article on Thursday, literature vs a story. Which was interesting, but also somewhat confusing. Even though i already knew how to do this, we learned how to put a grease fire out properly, but on the other hand this can be interpreted in a different way. Such as a huge mishap in your life, how could you possibly handle that? Such as how to put out a grease fire.
Within this week i have learned that i truly am an extremely busy person. In some ways this can be good (at least in not lazy) but, in terms of tasks within this class, my busy lifestyle is not a good thing. My reading flopped this week, for i found myself engulfed in homework for my other classes, as well a hours taken up by work and volleyball. Although i didn't meet my reading goal for this week, i did learn a lot of information from this week's lessons itself.
I've always loved poems and what they hold. This week i learned that poems can contrast eachother, such as in The Eagle. We looked over certain lines within the poem that used contrasting words, and we discussed their meaning. I learned from that, that some lines included in poems can have many different meanings; out of the box meanings. I also learned how to analyze poetry a step further, |
